The 12th edition of the Scientific Interest Group (GIS) “Jeu et Sociétés” (Game and Societies) research call is open from 30 October to 22 December 2025.
As in previous years, all scientific topics related to games, play, or gambling, and to their broader social, cultural, or ethical implications, are eligible for submission.
Nature and amount of the grants
Open to all research institutions in France and Europe*, this call for expressions of interest aims to provide concrete support to lecturers, academic researchers, and scholars. According to the constitutive agreement of the GIS, the projects supported through this scheme may include:
- funding for research missions (material and/or logistical support for Master’s, PhD or postdoctoral work, or coverage of specific research expenses for teachers, lecturers, and researchers working on game-related topics);
- funding for action-research or didactic projects connected to games, play, or gambling (the research question must be explicitly scientific and address the ludic dimension of the subject);
- funding to strengthen scientific links between civil society (associations, play libraries, etc.) and academic research on games and play;
- funding for the organisation of study days and/or conferences on games, play, or gambling;
- funding for publications (books or peer-reviewed journals);
- funding for the translation of academic articles on games, play, or gambling into a foreign language (provided that the articles have already been published in a peer-reviewed journal);
